Believe it or not, Thanksgiving dinner will be more affordable in 2024.

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) said the average cost of Thanksgiving dinner this year will be about $58.08 for a 10-person meal, or about $5.81 a person. The AFBF noted, “If your dollar had the same overall purchasing power as a consumer in 1984 … this would be the least expensive Thanksgiving meal in the 39-year history of the AFBF Thanksgiving survey, other than the outlier of 2020.”

While many people are still feeling financial stress, the AFBF says this shows that wage inflation is an issue that needs to be addressed.

Another fun fact: The average American’s caloric intake during Thanksgiving dinner is “just” 2,092 calories. Which doesn’t seem THAT bad, if it’s your ONLY meal of the day with no snacking, no leftovers, and no booze. But who can do that?
