Round Two for ‘Hillbilly Bones” duo, Blake and Trace
On Friday, Blake Shelton is releasing a new single, “Hell Right.” According to Nash Country Daily, the song was written by Hardy, who also co-wrote Shelton’s recent #1, “God’s Country.” That fact alone convinced Shelton he needed to lift a self-imposed moratorium on recording and hit the studio.
“About three-quarters of the way through the song, I decided, ‘Oh my God, I’m not done recording. I’ve gotta go cut this song,” he says. “It’s just so much fun and just so infectious. It seems like something that would be great to have out this summer, like, ‘Let’s do this thing, let’s get it out now.’”
“Hell Right” also features a very special vocal guest in Trace Adkins, who also collaborated with Shelton on 2009’s “Hillbilly Bone.” Shelton noted that he wanted Adkins on the tune “because he’s got that low, deep, big voice and he’s so great at the ad-lib stuff. He just brings a certain quality to any recording that nobody else can touch. The guy’s got so much personality in his voice and the way he sings, and I still think that he’s one of the most underrated country artists out there.”
