Alaska Raceway Park To Receive $10,000 In Prize Money

Alaska Raceway Park in Palmer was in a National Contest against 21 other tracks from around the country in the Advance My Track competition that ran through May 10th. They made it to the 2nd round with 5 other tracks and fans were able to vote for their favorites during the 48 hour window which ran from Saturday night May 8th at 8pm Alaska time, through 8pm Monday, May 10th. Though a lot of the tracks have weekly attendance of more fans than the Mat-Su Valley has residents, our small track placed 3rd and will receive a $10,000 prize for track improvements from Advanced Auto and NASCAR. They plan on using the money to help put in a play ground for kids, paved parking for handicapped fans and a smaller track for kids racing.
