The Alaska Avalanche Information Center here with your Snow Riders Report thanks to support from Go North Motorhomes and Classic Country 100.9.
Spring snow, wind and sun are all on tap this weekend. The Mat Su is once again getting hammered by high wind while the Turnagain and East Prince William Sound regions can expect heavy snow. Sun is forecast to return across South Central by Saturday.
Thanks to dedicated groomers, the trails all across South Central are in great condition and the new snow should make for continued prime riding.
Be aware new snow, wind and sunshine are all red flags for avalanches. Make sure you have the training, the gear and good partners.
Visit The Avalanche Center in Thompson Pass and at Arctic Man for free workshops thanks to the Alaska Department of Public Safety and AARP Alaska.
It’s a great time to get out and play in the snow. Before you go check current weather and avalanche conditions, find and submit observations and the full schedule of training opportunities at AlaskaSnow dot org.
Have a fun, safe weekend.
